"Can't You See" live/jam/cover by The Klobbs
Hey there, kids-who-won't-find-this-interesting!! You know that lame Marshal Tucker Band song that your fathers love? We tried playing it at our last jam session and recorded it on a phone in the corner of the living room! We actually have no idea how to play it! We actually have a really hard time finding a rhythm section to practice with us.

Barbie is better than Oppenheimer (Analysis, sort of)

Barbenheimer: Subconscious Longing for the Nuclear Family?
Просмотров 89210 месяцев назад
Is the success of Barbie and Oppenheimer evidence of the Jungian collective consciousness crying out for a return? Is the political pendulum swinging back to tradition? Is the Quesarito an edible amalgam of male and female private parts? I admit: I don't know. All I do know is that if Zizek's rantings on taco bell can pass as philosophy, then so can this. It's all just dumb philosophy folks. Do...

TARDY (full-length film)
Просмотров 1,6 тыс.Год назад
'Tardy' is tardy as in... it's late. It was made in 2018, yet it's taken until 2023 for its final form to release. It's also late in that it's outdated... in style, tone and content. Unfit for modernity. Pushing at boundaries that'll refuse to budge. 'Tardy' is tardy. But what else is it? Well, 'Tardy' is an independent feature length film that was made with no money. Seriously, your writer is ...

He's maintaining. Good video so far, but seriously... His alcohol consumption is mild compared to what was acceptable 50 years ago. Eastwood's film 'The Outlaw Josey Wales' is based on a book written by Forrest Carter in 1972 _The Rebel Outlaw: Josey Wales._ Forrest Carter was not his real name. His real name was Asa Earl Carter: Asa Earl Carter (September 4, 1925 - June 7, 1979) was a 1950s segregationist political activist, Ku Klux Klan organizer, and later Western novelist. He co-wrote George Wallace's well-known pro-segregation line of 1963, "Segregation now, segregation tomorrow, segregation forever", and ran in the Democratic primary for governor of Alabama on a white supremacist ticket. Years later, under the pseudonym of supposedly Cherokee writer Forrest Carter, he wrote The Rebel Outlaw: Josey Wales (1972), a Western novel that led to a 1976 film - The Oulaw Josey Wales - featuring Clint Eastwood that was adopted into the National Film Registry, and The Education of Little Tree (1976), a best-selling, award-winning book which was marketed as a memoir but which turned out to be fiction. In 1976, following the success of The Rebel Outlaw and its film adaptation The Outlaw Josey Wales (1976), The New York Times revealed Forrest Carter was actually Asa Carter. His background became national news again in 1991 after his purported memoir, The Education of Little Tree (1976), was re-issued in paperback, topped the Times paperback best-seller lists (both non-fiction and fiction), and won the American Booksellers Book of the Year (ABBY) award. In the memoir Carter claimed to be Cherokee and/or of Cherokee descent but this has been shown to be a complete fabrication. Prior to his literary career as "Forrest", Carter was politically active for years in Alabama as an opponent of the civil rights movement. In the mid 1950s, he had a syndicated segregationist radio show, and worked as a speech writer for segregationist Governor George Wallace of Alabama. He also founded the North Alabama Citizens Council (NACC), an independent offshoot of the White Citizens' Council movement formed by Carter when the White Citizens' Council tried to moderate Carter's antisemitism. He also formed the militant and violent Ku Klux Klan group known as the Original Ku Klux Klan of the Confederacy, and started a monthly publication titled The Southerner which spread white supremacist and anti-communist rhetoric. As I just commented on Twitter (I don't call it X, never will, screw you Elon Mush!), this video is the perfect reading on a (nearly) perfect film. Another nice touch you may or may not have noticed: when Corine (Stana Katic) leaves the appartment she and Vesper's ex-boyfriend were sharing in Kazan, she whispers a "Thank you" that's barely audible but is definitely there. There's much more depth to this film than it was credited for. Its sole flaw in my view is that it came right after the monumental kick in the gut that was Casino Royale. That's all. Guilty by comparison. Olga Kurylenko will forever stay in my mind as one of the very best James Bond girls too. Thanks for righting this terrible wrong with this video of yours! Cheers!

    This movie Was shot By Hoyte Van Hoytema, who does almost all of Nolan’s movies. He’s an amazing cinematography and a worthy replacement for Roger Deakins. But pretty much every single good shot in this movie is ruined by this awful yellow tint that they put over everything, even the snowy mountains in Austria have this weird tint to it, because the shots in themselves can look really pretty but this damn yellow tint makes everything look super strange. There’s this one video on RUclips which color corrects the day of the dead sequence, and it looks 10x better and allows you to really appreciate Hoyte’s Camerawork and compositions.

      @FallopiumFilms 2 дня назад

      yeah I see where you're coming from, but composition doesn't matter if everything you're meant to compose is bad. Bad sets. Bad acting. And then a bad story the layer below, and bad editing the layer above

    Quantum of Solace is nowhere near as good as Casino Royale, and I think even Spectre (for me) is a better film. But that’s not to say it’s completely worthless. It works well as a gritty revenge thriller and it also works quite well as the third act of the story casino royale told. With how short it is, it definitely feels like the final act of a story spanning two movies. It would have been better if they named it Something like Casino Royale Part 2. And I also love the ending of the film. Throughout the movie I think it handles Bond’s grieving over vesper and his supposed “indifference” over the incident excellently. And the shot of bond leaving Vesper’s Necklace in the snow is beautiful. I will forever love how it ended this arc for Daniel Craig’s Bond.

    Addendum. I say Magnolia is nearly perfect. It's a little too long, right? And there's the issue of redundancy - the Earl Partridge echoes Jimmy Gator, Stanley echoes Donnie. I'd love to see another version eliminating Stanley, Jimmy and the game show. Why the redundancy? I mean, I love the White Album, too, but it would have made a far stronger record as a single disc.

    Great insights, Mr. Fallopium (can't seem to find your name, sir, but we're all partial to opium). Well researched, professionally edited and lovingly polished. I suppose I initially kicked against your primary opinion, that Magnolia is about accepting lives where we have absolutely no control because it seems too obvious and too vanilla: zillions of absurdist stories exist, yet Magnolia is patently original. Yet anyone who loves this film on first viewing can't deny that it captures the absurdities of life, even if we didn't analyze it as such. So your point is spot-on. I don't agree completely, though. A life with zero control? That takes things too far and makes PTA a hypocrite. After all, most artists see their art as a way to play Creator of a tiny universe, with lots of, or total, control (Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man?), and Magnolia proves PTA succeeds in controlling all the elements to (near) perfection. So some things are within our control. At least if you're a genius artist like PTA.

    Love GoldenEye but can't exactly gloss over the ever perpetuated "overreliance on CGI" myth. The Phantom Menace had more practical effects than the OT combined. Both practical and CGI can be done well or poorly. I especially think the mo-cap for Grievous was executed well in Revenge of The Sith. Some of the prequel CGI has certainly aged but it was groundbreaking for its time, alongside T2 and the like. GoldenEye N64 is also clunky and dated in some ways but timelessly enjoyable, much like the movie itself. The Die Another Day para sailing sequence does look a little silly however.
